Friction test

A method for automatic torque-and-drag evaluation

Overview

Automate friction testing using reliable, validated inputs fed directly into the drilling control system

The Friction Test module automatically supplies the automated drilling control system (ADCS) with the parameters required for free-rotation, pick-up, and slack-off steps. By measuring pickup weight, slack-off weight, and free-rotation torque, it generates accurate and repeatable friction indicators. A built-in digital twin validates user inputs, flagging values outside defined limits and ensuring consistent, reliable test execution.
