ALFAsim 2026.1: Mastering Flow Assurance and Onshore Production Challenges

ALFAsim 2026.1 advances high-fidelity 1D multiphase flow simulation with key expansions in Flow Assurance and onshore operations. This release introduces dedicated support for Progressive Cavity Pump (PCP) and Rod Pump (RP) models, alongside a significantly upgraded Scaling Plug-in featuring an expanded mineral library and PHREEQC/Pitzer integration for complex geochemical modeling.

Core physics have been strengthened through a refined Three-Phase Two-Layer hydrodynamic model, improved flow pattern stability, and technical corrections to emulsion model correlations. Furthermore, a new Slug Post-Processing window has been introduced. This new capability features dedicated slug outputs and histograms, while the systematic extraction of key metrics ensures more reliable slug sizing predictions and overall flow assurance stability. To ensure reliability in complex scenarios, the Steady-State solver now features superior robustness with enhanced Newton loops and automated fallback strategies that track the best global solutions while maintaining strict physical constraints.

Engineering productivity is further streamlined with the introduction of direct parametric studies in alfacase and new ALFAsim command line utilities for PVT and project automation. Combined with refined UI visualizations, these updates deliver a more efficient workflow and clearer interpretation of simulation results for both offshore and onshore assets.
