Overview
Monitor solids and pressure in real time, receive automated alerts, and act before problems occur
Using rig sensor data - rate of penetration, fluid flow, drillstring rotation, hole and bit depth - our digital twin calculates solids concentration over depth and time, and pressure profiles both inside the drill string and annular space. The system alerts if solids concentration and/or bed height are exceeded, enabling the 24/7 team to recommend corrective actions like mud plug pumping or reaming.
Early software detection prevents stuck pipe and avoids NPT during slant drilling
- Our solution detected poor hole cleaning at 33° inclination with ROP of 30 m/h (figure below).
- High solids concentration and mobile cuttings bed identified in slanted sections.
- Discrepancy observed between measured and calculated torque trends.
- Application alerted the 24/7 service team, who notified RTOC’s mud engineer; drilling paused to pump mud plugs.
- Later, application issued a new warning of poor hole cleaning conditions.
- Onboard personnel confirmed the solids simulation was accurate.
- Significant amount of rock cuttings returned to the surface.
- Chemists increased fluid rheology and scheduled mud plugs every three hours.
- Issue had not been detected until identified by the application.
